Web-Letter, Issue 189 – Classic Silk Beret Many of our Web-Letter projects are designed and photographed at the same time as our pattern booklet designs. This particular hat was photographed the same summer afternoon as the new Meadow and Garden Gate booklets, which you can read more about on the CEY blog. With 30 different colors of Classic Silk available, the combinations for this simple beret are endless. As Susan notes below, try it in one color for an even more straightforward knit.
The Story: Hats are worn for many different reasons – for warmth, as a fashion statement, for covering ill behaved hair. No matter what the reason, this beret is slouchy and easy to wear year round in super soft Classic Silk. An easy knit, this would be a good first project on circular and double pointed needles. The stripes add interest but it would be just as serviceable knit in one color. The Yarn: Classic Silk 50% cotton, 30% silk, 20% nylon Classic Silk is a soft, summer yarn with a nubby texture that is wonderful for next-to-skin garments.
