Web-Letter Issue 214 – Tomboy Cardigan in Cheseapeake

photos courtesy of Elena Nodel

This week’s Web-Letter brings you another great design by Elena Nodel. It is an adorable child’s vest perfect for both boys and girls alike. This piece is very knitterly and has practically no finishing. Elena chose to design it using Chesapeake, a wonderful combination of organic cotton combined with extra soft, Merino wool. Enjoy this quick, versatile knit!

The Yarn:

Chesapeake – 75% Organic Cotton, 50% Merino

Included in the Verde Collection, Chesapeake is a wonderful combination of fibers producing a yarn that takes you through all seasons.

The blend of cool, crisp, organic cotton combined with extra soft, merino wool and the gauge of 5 sts per inch, make this a great yarn for both adult and children garments. The heathered colors are the lovely result of the different ways the vegetable and animal components take the dyes.

Also from Classic Elite Yarns:

Chesapeake is a dream to knit with--a soft hand, brilliant ability to register texture, and a versatile gauge combine to bring you a yarn that is just about perfect. Did we mention it's partly organic? The designs in our dedicated booklet, Harvest, make great use of Chesapeake with cables, simple lace, and knit/purl textures.

Beginning from the top left and going clockwise: GALA, a scoop-neck pullover with slight A-line shape and lace and cable patterning, DELICIOUS, a cable-covered tam with braid cabled band, EMPIRE, a cropped and boxy Aran vest with asymmetrical closure, and MAC, a moebius cowl with knitted fringes.
