Issue 233 – Montera Slouchy Hat

Slouchy hats are everywhere and this one skein hat in quick-to-knit Montera from Sweaterbabe gives the option for the knitter to adjust it to his or her personal slouch level. Montera's bright colors are the perfect antidote to the end of winter when hats are still needed and we longingly look forward to spring. The more slouchy version (shown here) uses every inch of one hank of Montera - be prepared to use your gauge swatch to finish off the top.

Sweaterbabe has designed for us before, and was kind enough to participate in a designer interview on the blog! Head over to blog.classiceliteyarns.com to read about her design process and inspiration.

The Yarn:

Montera
50% Llama & 50% Wool

This single-ply yarn is a lovely blend of 50% llama and 50% wool. It is soft yet strong and knits up quickly at a gauge of 3½-4 sts per inch. Montera is available in 100 gram hanks in a variety of heathered colors and even more solid colors.

Montera has been part of the Classic Elite family of yarns for a long time. The 50/50 blend of wool and llama fibers is soft, fuzzy and warm, and comes in 47 colors ranging from muted to rich. Our newest booklet, Bounty, has four designs in this classic blend.

Clockwise from top left, Cinderella is an A-line cardigan with a simple eyelet pattern decorating the front, Hooligan is a fun hat with a hip silhouette, Little Boo is a loose0fitting layering pullover with relaxed cap sleeves, and Sugar Pie is a sideways knit striped scarf in an easy texture stitch.
