Issue 356 – Grapevine Hat

What better way to get in the mood for fall than to knit leaves? Of course it is still warm in many places, so it is probably sensible to stick with lightweight wools for now. This week we're doing just that with the Grapevine Hat by Amy Loberg.

Amy designed these hats in Fresco and Liberty Wool Light. Both yarns are well suited for Fair Isle and produce a lightweight fabric. Working this chart, decorated with leaves and clusters of grapes, is a wonderful intro to fall knitting.

We are big fans of Amy's designs at CEY, and she's just as big of a fan of Fresco. Alpine Forest is an expansive collection of Amy's designs in Fresco.

The Yarn

60% wool, 30% baby alpaca, 10% angora

Liberty Wool Light
100% washable wool

Fresco and Liberty Wool Light both have expansive palettes, making them perfect yarns for colorwork. Fresco's blend and ply creates a fabric that is warm, soft, and slightly fuzzy. Liberty Wool Light is a washable wool available in solid and printed colors. Both yarns have a balanced twist that makes all stitch combinations pop.
