Issue 363 – Toboggan Slouchy Hat

Oh, October. As I write this, it is rainy and blustery—the coolest fall day yet. As a knitter, I instinctually crave warm projects that I can finish quickly. Soon, I expect requests from my non-knitter friends for hats and scarves. They know I'll happily comply.

Obviously this Slouchy Hat is just the thing for my queue. Susan designed it in Toboggan and added a few purl rounds above the ribbing and in the crown for texture. You can add even more character with a tassel or pom-pom on top. The pattern has three sizes, so you can whip these hats up for everyone.

If you're also seeking bulky hats, then add Falling Leaf and Turning Leaf to your queue. These two hats, also designed by Susan and knit in Toboggan, are my new go-to projects when I want to make a hat in one evening.

The Yarn

70% Merino • 30% Superfine Alpaca

Toboggan is a blend of merino wool and superfine alpaca twisted into a soft, weighty skein of bulky yarn. The double ply and unbelievably soft hand contribute to buttery soft and lofty winter garments and accessories.

Finish Quickly with Bulky Knits

Hats are one of the quickest designs to knit. However, when working with a bulky yarn like Toboggan, every kind of project becomes a quick knit.
