Firefly Fringed Scarf- Page 18

Many people have contacted us asking for further clarification for this pattern.

When establishing the patt, the 7 Stockinette sts at the edge are for the fringe, they will be unraveled when the knitting is completed.
The first row that is worked is Row 5 of the Edge Increase Pattern—it's worked over 3 sts, and increases 1 stitch. There are now 11 sts.

Continue to work following the pattern as est; for example:
The next row, work 4 sts following Row 6 of the Edge Inc Patt, then 7 sts in St st.
The next row, work 7 sts in St st, then Row 7 of the Edge Inc Patt, increasing 1 st—12 sts.

Cont like that until Row 16 of the Edge inc patt is completed, then begin the Edge Inc Patt again, however, this time, after working the 7 sts in St st, then the edge inc patt, work the rest of the sts in the row following the dash chart. For example:
When establishing Row 1, work 7 sts in St st, Row 1 of the Edge Inc patt, which is worked over 1 st and inc's 1 st, then work 8 sts as for Row 1 of the Dash pattern—17 sts.

The next row, work 8 sts in the Dash pattern, 2 sts in Edge Inc Patt, then 7 sts in St st. The next row, work 7 sts in St st, Row 3 of Edge Inc Patt (worked over 2 sts, inc 1 st), then 8 sts in Dash Patt—18 sts.

It basically continues like that. Each time the Edge Inc Patt begins at Row 1 again, there will be an additional repeat of the Dash chart.

So, the next time Row 1 of edge inc patt beging there will be 16 sts in the Dash patt instead of just 8, and so on.

After 7 whole repeats of the Edge Inc Patt have been worked, end after Row 16, then continue for another partial repeat, ending after row 14 of the edge inc patt. Then begin decreasing.
